4 Home Decor Trends for 2020

Posted by Cassandra Birdd on

At the start of any new year, you may be looking into sprucing up your home’s interior. Making changes to the spaces in your home can give it a warm, welcoming feel. Here are four home decor trends that are sure to be hot in 2020 and why.

New Trends in Home Decor for 2020

1. Classic Blue, White & Black

Classic Blue is Pantone’s color of the year for 2020. You’ll find this rich hue in many of the year’s newest designs. From vases to wall art, blue pairs well with whites. Black and white is a vintage pairing that works well with blues and grays. Use these hues in combination in your tiling and cabinetry and in your tableware and decorative pieces.

2. Olive Trees

home decorLiving and faux plants and florals continue to be popular with designers in the new year, but the focus is on soft, subtle foliage with light green leaves.

Instead of plants with large, bold leaves, like those of the fiddle-leaf tree, interior designers are experimenting with wispy trees and airy plants. The Arbequina olive tree works well as an indoor plant. Because it bears fruit at a young age, you’ll have access to delicious, fresh olives if you find an attractive specimen for your home.

Unlike other olive trees, which typically bear fruit only after five to twelve years, the Arbequina is an early producer. Also, this unique variety is naturally heat-, drought-, and pest-resistant.

3. Vintage Accents

What’s old will always be new again, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and main living spaces. Vintage lighting fixtures with a touch of patina, rubbed candlesticks, and distressed frames will give your home a touch of old-world charm. In the bathroom, a claw-footed tub and freestanding plumbing fixtures add visual interest and vintage appeal.

4. Cozy Fabrics

If you want to follow a trend that’s as comfortable as it is fashion-forward, incorporate new fabrics throughout your home. Handwoven table runners and soft braided blankets add color and texture. Comfortable-chic accents are on-trend for 2020. Drape a luxurious faux fur over a sofa, add a chenille-covered ottoman to your den, or hang a few chunky-knit coverlets over a blanket ladder in your bedroom.

If you’re thinking about incorporating new decorative elements into your home, contact Treehouse Gift & Home in Onalaska, WI. From inspirational Willow Tree® sculptures to clocks, rugs, and lighting fixtures, you’ll be delighted when browsing their creative and personalized inventory of gifts and home accessories. Pamper Your Valentine!

Posted by Cassandra Birdd on

Looking for a unique gift for your Valentine?  Through our wide variety of heavenly scents and carefully selected colors, our soaps are perfect for a broad range of gifts and occasions. Learn a little bit more about the product, and come find these in store, or call for more details. 608-433-7896.

Our felted soap balls are handmade in small batches using only the highest quality ingredients. We start with organic oils and carefully chosen scents to make our long-lasting cold-process soaps. After curing, they are wrapped in wool and felted by hand.

These high-quality, olive oil-based soaps lather extremely well. Wrapped in naturally anti-fungal sheep's fiber, the felted soaps act as both a washcloth and exfoliating loofa combined. As the soap shrinks so do the wool, leaving you with a small, multi-purpose scrubby that can be used in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. After each use the natural wool absorbs the lather with no need to rinse, leaving you with a longer-lasting soap.

  • materials: organic olive oil, coconut oil, fragrance or essential oils, merino wool
  • size: 1 ball is approximately 4 1/4 oz
  • handmade in Madison, Wisconsin
  •

    Can be used as
*hostess gifts, teachers gifts, gifts for a friend
*in the shower, bathroom, & kitchen
*air fresheners in your gym bag, boots, car, & locker
*the perfect two-in-one soap and washcloth to bring along camping and to the gym

    DISCLAIMERS:
    *
Each handmade soap ball is approximately 2 1/2 inches in diameter.  It can slightly vary in size, shape, and color from the images above.

*FOR FIRST TIME USE: Rub vigorously under hot water until heavy lather develops. After the first use, soap will lather well each time.

3 Ways to Include God in Your Home Decor

    Posted by Cassandra Birdd on

Invite God into your home and remind yourself of your favorite messages all at once or bless friends and family with these gifts. To get started, try one of these simple ideas.

How Do You Invite God Into a Home?

    1. Paintings & Wall Decorations

A painting of the Savior makes a beautiful addition to your home, and there are many options to choose from, including biblical scenes, Renaissance art, and depictions of Christ as the Good Shepherd or the Bridegroom. You can also focus on scriptural messages you find meaningful or want to remind family and guests about. Framed passages, hanging scrolls, and plaques are available in all styles and colors.

    2. Books

Home DecorA book of uplifting scriptures or quotes is an excellent choice for your coffee table. This way, it's always at hand when you need it, and your guests can also benefit. You can also get notebooks with religious artwork on the front to record your thoughts.

    3. Mugs & Knickknacks

If you enjoy coffee or tea each day, having an inspiring quote from scripture on your mug can ensure the message stays in your mind. Throw pillows printed or embroidered with the quote play a similar role. They come with many different designs to match your home decor, including nature themes, simple block lettering, inspiring photos, and spiritual artwork.

If you're looking for Christian home decor, visit Treehouse Gift & Home in Onalaska, WI. Serving La Crosse County for more than 20 years, they stock items from over 70 local artists and carry brands you won't find anywhere else in the area. The History of Christmas Gifts

    Posted by Cassandra Birdd on

Giving gifts is a significant part of Christmas traditions around the globe. Whether you're setting brightly wrapped boxes under the tree for your children or having a gift exchange at the office, you're following a tradition that goes back thousands of years. It even predates Christmas itself.

    A Worldwide Tradition

Many cultures and traditions have a winter festival to exchange presents at the end of the year. The direct ancestor of the Christian tradition is probably the Roman festival of Saturnalia. This was a popular and widely celebrated holiday, and employers gave their employees a bonus to buy gifts. It was traditional to choose something simple and humble to give rather than anything expensive.

    The First Christmas Celebrations

GiftsChristmas first became a holiday in the early fourth century. Presents were part of the festivities right from those early years. Not only were they already a beloved tradition, but they fit perfectly with the Christmas story.

How Gifts Fit With the Christmas Story

There's more meaning behind the presents we give and receive at this time of year than a kind gesture or an old tradition. First, the Three Wise Men brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honor the newborn Christ, so trading presents is a clear reminder of the story that is the reason for the season. Even more importantly, Jesus is God's greatest gift to humankind, and celebrating his birth by giving carefully chosen presents to those we love symbolizes that ultimate expression of compassion.

If you need gifts for a loved one this holiday season, choose Treehouse Gift & Home in Onalaska, WI. For over 20 years, this gift shop has offered novelties, decor, and Christian music, with many items made by over 70 local artists. They also carry brands you won't find anywhere else.
